Erin
Caluducan
wins
Miss
Manila
2008
pageant!
Erin
Caluducan,
a young
lady
from
Markham,
Ontario
bested
seven
other
candidates
to win
the
title of
Miss
Manila
2008.
First
runner-up
honours
was
given to
Erica
Tenorio
of
Scarborough,
Ontario,
while
Lorraine
Corral
of
Brampton,
Ontario
was
second
runner-up.
The
pageant
with the
theme
“Dream
Girls”
was held
last
Saturday,
May 24,
2008, at
the
Korean
Cultural
Centre
in North
York.
The well
attended
the show
featured
superb
entertainment
from
Emil
Zarris
and
Josie de
Leon,
and
dance
presentations
from the
Fiesta
Filipina
Dance
Troupe.
The
event
also has
terrific
emcees
in Niko
Mejia
and
Nathalie
Canlubo.
Erin
also won
this
year’s
People’s
Choice
Award.
This
award is
based on
internet
online
voting
sponsored
and
developed
by the
Filipino
community
web
portal –
www.filipinos.ca.
She
gathered
8,451
votes or
about
39% of
total
votes
cast.
Erin is
a first
year
student
at the
University
of
Toronto
where
she is
taking
up
studies
to
prepare
for her
career
goal of
being a
high
school
teacher.
She
likes
hula
dancing
and
pilates.
As Miss
Manila,
she
plans on
doing
her best
to
represent
the kind
of good
person
that she
is as
well as
represent
the
Filipino
community
in a
positive
way.
The Miss
Manila
Pageant
is an
annual
event
sponsored
by the
Fiesta
Filipina
Dance
Troupe.
The
winners
will be
participating
in
various
community
events
throughout
the
year,
especially
at the
Carabram
festival
in
Brampton,
Ontario.
