Castro is Miss Manila 2007!
(June 2, 2007) Charisma de Castro, a petite young lady
from Brampton, Ontario bested ten other candidates to
win the title of Miss Manila 2007.
It was an evening of fun and entertainment at the Korean
Cultural Centre last Saturday, June 2, 2007. Over 500
people attended the show with also featured songs from
Emil Zarris and Karen Tan and dance presentations from
the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe.
Vanessa Tillner of Scarborough, ON was awarded the first
runner-up honours, while Kesiah Papasin of Etobicoke, ON
and Enalyn Descatamento of Hamilton, ON were second
runner-up and third-runner up, respectively.
Marylou Malicdem of Thornhill, ON garnered the Best in
Terno award, while Johanna Perez was awarded Miss
Congeniality.
For the first time this year, the Miss Manila Pageant
presented the People’s Choice Award, which was won by
Vanessa Tillner. This award is based on internet/online
voting sponsored and developed by the Filipino community
web portal - filipinos.ca. Vanessa gathered 5,592 votes
or about 29% of total votes cast.
Charisma, or Char-char, studies at the University of
Toronto at Mississauga where she is taking up studies to
prepare for her career goal of being a teacher. She
likes volleyball, dancing and Asian food. As Miss
Manila, she plans on taking in all experience, be able
to influence others, and make everyone proud.
The Miss Manila Pageant is an annual event sponsored by
the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe. The winners will be
participating in various community events throughout the
year, especially at the Carabram festival in Brampton,
Ontario.
